IL&FS Cluster Development Initiative Limited (IL&FS CDI), a wholly owned
subsidiary of Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS) Ltd,
has been implementing several projects for sharpening of the competitiveness of
manufacturing sector, particularly, SMEs on Private Public Partnership (PPP)
and cluster basis. Some of the important sectors include textiles, leather,
food processing, artisan, pharma, etc.
IL&FS CDI, a successful offshoot of its manifold efforts, has had a
catalytic effect on Indian SMEs and industry clusters raising their
competitiveness, particularly in manufacturing sectors. Thus, it is basically
providing this institutional support for the vital prosperity and progress of
the Clusters in India.
IL&FS CDI has been assigned the responsibility of implementing the project
on Business Development Services for Kanpur leather cluster by SIDBI.

Kanpur is one of the biggest producers of Textile and Leather products and they are exported in bulk. About 50 Tons of air cargo is generated for leather products only and this is sent through surface transport to New Delhi and from New Delhi it is sent to outside India through air cargo. |
